But you see that would be an intelligent argument.
That’s not the kind of argument these people make.
They would say it’s because police are getting better at their jobs or something
Saying that last bit about time is not particularly meaningful for two reasons.
First of all, we do not especially know the end state of the universe. It may not be true that all matter decays, and protons may be stable. We may be in a false vacuum which will spontaneously collapse in large timespans.
Second of all, the hypothetical is a thought experiment. The monkeys are a placeholder for any random generation of characters. The thought experiment also does not take into consideration the food required to feed monkeys for infinite time, nor their aging, mutation over generations, and waste logistics. It’s not meaningful then to suddenly decide to apply the laws of physics to them. The only laws applicable in this scenario are logic and mathematics.
I generally agree with the rest of your take, although I disagree where you say the thought experiment is dumb. I only have an issue with that last point lol. Cheers.
I have a quadro k2000m in my laptop. Cannot use modern drivers, and old drivers slowly have their support dropped by everything else. If the chip works then the drivers should as well.
AMD does not have this problem. AMD has open source drivers. If NVIDIA made their drivers open source then it would not be a problem.
NVIDIA drivers are notoriously bad. They break and WILL depreciate your card eventually, forcing you to switch to the slow open source drivers.
I have had two cards lose support. It’s absurd.
But for 370 it’s kinda a steal honestly.
For something like a hoodie, I recommend you go to a thrift store. Anything you find there will be durable and quality enough to survive, and you can feel it or try it on. It’s very easy to find high quality stuff while thrifting. 8 dollars for what might cost 80 new.
Try to focus on non-synthetic fibers or semi synthetic. Plastics in clothing are bad for the environment.
This is clearly bad press, everyone reading this gets negative thoughts about Nintendo. We are all talking about how bad they are RIGHT NOW.
Nintendo would absolutely lose that legal battle. It’s well established that emulation is not a crime and nor is the development of emulators.
This kind of thing often has the opposite of the intended effect. People then host mirrors of the original repo, and the press brings more developers to the project.
This sort of action by Nintendo and other companies is so short sighted. Bad press, a legal battle they couldn’t actually win if it went to court, increased attention on the thing they’re trying to hinder, etc. Its a stupid decision made by business people who don’t know anything about tech, and who are disincentivized to care about the long term health of their brand.
I litterally had not heard of the emulator until now. Maybe I’ll have to compile it and give it a spin now.
You can easily mirror GitHub to some other repo
That’s fair, but my point still stands.
IMO this has been very publicized in certain circles, and will have the effect of martyrdom. More people are going to be interested in doing this.
Honestly, if anyone has become a master in C, they can become a rust master in short order. It’s different, but not THAT different. The roots are the same.
I don’t believe this for a second. You can literally just look at it and intuitively understand. Not to mention part of the standard elementary school curriculum is how to read a clock.
That would lose the high ground in a very important way. Calmer minds may yet prevail, if we are fortunate.
Look up project brutality or brutal doom. Those are great doom mods with a lot of fun gameplay. I used to play that for hours.
The Anno series is pretty cool. It’s like playing crack. I’ve been playing 1800 recently and it feels like an instant classic.
The elder scrolls games are great for this. The further back you go the more replayability there is IMO. Morrowind is goated.
Dungeon keeper 1&2 are both a lot of fun, and have lots of custom maps. The original dungeon keeper even has a full engine rewrite which is really good.
If you want to try map painters, Crusader Kings 3, EU4, and Victoria 3 are all excellent and in depth games, with a lot of replayability stemming from all of the different ways to build up your nation in the sandbox.
Rimworld, dwarf fortress, etc. Have fun!
It’s really not as complicated as you might think. If you just start playing you will understand the basics very quickly. The game also mostly drip feeds you the new mechanics as you play and unlock them, and you start with a single planet so it’s not overwhelming at first.
The only thing that gets really complicated in my opinion are the ship armament matchups. But if you autogenerated or specialize your ships you don’t need to know much about it, just look up a basic fleet comp for numbers of frigates, destroyers, etc.
The only time that really matters is if you’re taking on the end game crisis or sleeping empires or whatever, because specializing your craft against that threat will give you at least double your fighting efficiency or more. Feels fucking awesome.
I recommend you dont play a hivemind or robots on your first playthrough. I really enjoy interacting with the different species and cultures as my civilization expands, and you can do that with an iron fist or with an open hand.
Even if you’re not running Linux, check out the archwiki:

These will run on pretty much anything, and many of them are fantastic. Check this out!
I think it’s pretty well documented that an invasion of mainland Japan would have resulted in a greater loss of life on both sides. Furthermore most likely the Soviets would have invaded as well, meaning Japan would be split down the middle to this day.
