I can recommend syncthing. If it’s a file you want to keep updated between the two devices, it’s great and easy to set up. I use it for my password manager database.

KDE Connect works even on Windows supposedly. I’ve had great experience with it on Ubuntu, Fedora, and Garuda.

The art style was “what if we target the uncanny valley specifically?” It was the strangest thing that seemed to target realism but without the technology that actually makes it look reasonable. I didn’t really care about what it looked like though. Just having some game competing with Maxis would have been nice. Cities: Skylines brought the city builder out of the pit it had been festering in with no competition. I was hoping this would do the same. Hopefully the other projects can do that still.

Yeah, both have pros and cons. I have Steam installed through pacman and flatpak also. For me I have the Flatpak version because it contains its own version of glibc. This mostly doesn’t matter, except I play Squad and it’s doing something with it’s anti-cheat that isn’t supported in the most recent versions of glibc, so I use the Flatpak version for Squad only.

Flatpak is essentially a more controlled environment. It will contain everything it needs to work, which is good for ensuring it works but bad because you’ll have duplicates. It mostly doesn’t matter which you use, but occasionally it does.

And Bloodborne is actually worth playing.

There is something to say about how well the storage is integrated into the PS5 in particular. The latency is much lower than PC storage generally is, even for m.2 NVMe. That probably isn’t actually that large of an issue that the games using that couldn’t work on PC, especially if you have a lot of RAM, which is even faster.

I don’t think intent is required. Behead’s definition says “cut off the head of (someone), especially as a form of execution.” The especially part means it isn’t exclusive to that.

A friend brought up some Ubisoft game (that I’m not that interested in) that is exclusive to their launcher. I was 90% sure this was an indication there was no hope for Linux there. I googled it and they apparently had already promised they would be strongly supporting Linux. A shitty company like Ubisoft is supporting it. I think we’re very close.

I’d be very curious to see the hours played on games by OS. The last data I saw of probable usage percent had Linux at 4%, but I’d bet a large number of Windows and Mac machines are mostly just web browser machines. I would suspect Linux users are more likely to be gamers as they’ve already shown more interest in technology.

I don’t know what percent we need to be mainstream, but we’re on a good trgectory. If we can manage to hit 10% I doubt it could be overlooked anymore. Also, every person who swaps over is one more person who’s likely to push others to swap. It’s a slippery slope. We’ll get there.

Yeah, I wouldn’t recommend this option. Maybe for some basic question, but don’t follow its directions for anything technical and absolutely don’t enter any commands it gives you unless you know what they do. It makes stuff up all the time. It’ll sound confident, but if you’re a new user you don’t know enough to know what it’s telling you to do.

For that matter, don’t enter any commands you see online without looking at it first. You can’t trust everyone.

Except that it was totally painless. It just works without an issue. This time it was Garuda, and part after install it ran an assistant where it could install a bunch of other applications for you too. It’s incredible how easy the process is compared to Windows.

I switched Linux distributions last night and it took maybe 15-30 minutes (including download time) and I’ve had no issues (once again). I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with that crap anymore.

They can. The issue is it’d eventually split the community. Mods that no longer have support will be lost, and the ones that do will either decide it isn’t worth updating each time or have to put up two versions. It also creates needless new work for people, especially the F4SE devs.

They don’t deserve praise for not doing something bad. They deserve praise when they do something good that they weren’t forced to do.

They didn’t do this from goodwill, but because it was predicted to hurt the bottom line. They’ll do it again as soon as it’s forgotten about. This isn’t the last you’ve heard from this.

I’m not certain, but I think the current recommendation is a swap file, not a swap partition. A swap file can also be resized a lot easier. The main benefit is that it doesn’t write to the same part of the disk constantly, so for SSDs in particular it extends the lifetime.

You can’t deliver on a promise that something won’t happen. You can keep it, but you can’t deliver on it. It could always happen later. At what point do you think it’s done?

Theoretically their community management tools are based on PSN, which does make some sense. This is the official reason for it. Of course they’re also hoovering up all your data to sell also. That’s the reason that gives them more money, so the real reason.

Yeah, I’m not the one who said peaceful protests are the only way to do things. I disagree with that. Most effective protests are called violent even when they’re not. The state will use violence against them and then claim they were violent. Peaceful protest can be a useful tool, but it isn’t the only tool. Storming that capital building is not a useful tool though. It’s only useful if you want to destroy a movement.

Coups however do often include physically storming buildings (or having access to it by default) to seize the legislature powers & using some sort of “official” pathway to power (just to have a basis for the administration & military to now follow the new regime as if technically nothing changed).

Sure, but it’s rarely, if ever, control of the building itself that gives that power. If you can control the people who wield it and force them to grant you power, that’s how it happens. That or kill them all and become the de facto controllers, but that requires a large military presence around the nation and that’s what gives power. That’s probably required in the case of any coup for that matter. Some people are going to turn against you and you have to be able to stop them.
