I’ve met lots of people who seem to hold the sentiment that if THEY managed to learn English, why can’t EVERYONE ELSE?

Sharing because I was delighted to learn this: trees are also an example of convergent evolution. I’m personally rooting for us to become trees. Pun intended.
There are trends and the odds aren’t exactly in our favour. But I generally agree. We’re not certainly doomed. And it’s important to keep fighting!
We know this. We know that if we stopped emitting, we could avoid the worst. We’re not idiots. It’s just that there’s no reason to believe humans will reduce emissions to a significant enough extent.
I thought of an example or two and corrected my comment to ‘tries to’ as I was typing haha
They’d also have to have been lying on their stomach for a long time for it to flow to the front. Gravity and all that
Im a high school maths teacher and that’s what we’re supposed to teach, % means percent, not percentage points. Maths always tries to have agreed-upon unambiguous definitions of things, precisely to avoid confusion.
We should really start by limiting that. If we start treating housing as a basic right, which we should, there’s zero reason a company should be allowed to own housing to profit off of. It’s a far bigger problem than my landlady who owns five flats. We can talk about limits for people like her later.
Can’t speak for everyone, I’m quite high functioning. But 100% same.
Fuck the vaccines cause autism argument. Like even if it were true. I’m autistic. You’re telling me you’d rather your child die than be like me? Speaks volumes to how much hate you have both for people like me and your own child.
I’ve heard them called mail carriers. It’s more precise, for example my mum is a postal worker, but doesn’t carry mail (she has an office job with postal services).
Force me to participate in a system where I gave myself burnout working enough to be allowed to be alive on a post scarcity continent
My phone warns me I’ve been listening to music at a dangerous volume for a dangerous amount of time 100% of the time when I’m driving and listening via aux.
I do it like that, but it has backfired before. I posted a resume that mentions I can code to a teaching position (Highschool maths). Not relevant to the job at all. Got the job. Some random admin person remembered I can write code and that meant that every other teacher should address their IT questions to me. No extra pay and I had to explain Microsoft software a lot of the time, which I don’t even use.
I was like this about books as a teen, one time i accidentally pulled an all nighter on a school night. Well, I realized it was 5am and figured there’s no point in sleeping for 2 hours.
We had Minecraft and Lego as kids as well and still played outside a lot. I thought that mix was still mostly normal, is it not?
One time I went on a dating app date, was nice. Met her again at a party, went on for drinks just the two of us, made out, she walked me home. Then I had a horrible, horrible bout of depression where I didn’t check my phone at all for about two months. So, that’s one instance of what’s going on in the persons mind.
All good :)
Did you notice the second sentence starts with ‘jokes aside’
You can say something like nice or good one, or react to the message with an appropriate or intentionally silly emoji
