I’ve always had issues with docker, especially when running it on a proxmox vm. I get weird network issues where when docker runs, the whole vm is cut off from network access (but my docker containers have internet). I also have problems with updates. Maybe it’s the whole virtual-ception of it all, a vm running docker running an application.
So far I’ve been getting by with running containers for every service (or VMs when I needed a gui since command line for certain things is tough.
I don’t like the idea of a single large server. If a node fails, everything goes tits up. If I have multiple nodes and one fails, my other services have zero downtime.
Convince me otherwise - I don’t work in this industry I teach boomers how to use MS Word haha.
Oh believe me I know. Hence getting more mini pcs and wanting a NAS. 10 vms is not enough!
I currently have a mini pc with amd 5800h. My thought was an n100 pc would take care of Pihole, Homarr, and other low cpu demand services. Minecraft server would go on my 5800h mini
So from your definition, me having family there and having some positive sentiment about some things I experienced there quantifies me as an asshole.
I find the prejudgment interesting. I used to only get this from right wingers for being Jewish but now I get it from both ends haha. Take care!
I have family in Israel and have been there several times. I liked it there. I liked how all the signs were trilingual and the food was excessively good. I don’t however approve of the Israeli government or how they’ve gone about this conflict.
Does this make me a bad person in other peoples eyes?
Firefox, Matrix chat, Proxmox, Homarr, Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr, Overseer, Nextcloud, Bazzite, Lemmy, QBittorent, Immich, Home Assistant, Keepass, Thunderbird, and Debian.
If it’s free, it is for me.
Reminds me of the Fall Out Boy song “Dead on Arrival”.
I use cannabis daily for several years. You get used to being in public high and it becomes less scary and panic inducing.
When I visit my family I must be fried. I can go on several week long vacations without cannabis but the moment my family is near I must be fried for my own remaining sanity.
Ya why not?
My wife mowed down this guy once in downtown ottawa. We still have the commemorative dent on the hood :)
Maybe because your friend isn’t the average user (specifically when you mention they don’t like the package manager).
In Fedora silverblue on KDE, all updates are handled through the discovery store which is similar and as easy as on windows.
Disagree. If you are suggesting not to theme and keep things close to stock (because you rightly mention that things break) under the guise of stability, why would you suggest that no one use an immutable distro? They’re way more unbreakable than your standard Ubuntu install.
Because he doesn’t actually have any interest in doing things himself. He has no technical ability but sweet talked himself into this position. I won’t lift a finger for him on this as it’s not my responsibility so we’ll see if he tries to throw me under the bus and how my management reacts.
Oh no this isn’t unusual behaviour. In my time here I’ve found this is the norm on many teams. I’d say 60% of the teams I’ve worked on here are like this.
In my line of work your competence does not get you promotions, but who you know and how well you fill out standardized tests that haven’t been updated since the mid 90’s. I’d have to change industries haha
I work on a team that teaches courses on how to use specific programs. I’m at job level 1. A job level 3 guy keeps asking me to schedule meetings with him so I can teach him how to use the specific programs so then he can do the job he was hired for and teach other people how to use these specific programs.
Big doubt anything actually happens.
They will find someone on the street and frame them if they can’t find the legit shooter.
