Don’t underestimate people, @clubby. I WAS a hippie of the 60s. I got tear gassed in Washington at the protest Jane Fonda attended. I’ve also been programming since I was 14 years old. Do the math and see if you can figure out the language, newbie.

And NO, this was not the America we envisioned! This was also not the America that Samuel Adams, Thomas Jefferson, John Paine, Ben Franklin, and all the others envisioned. Since JFK, the Republicans have decimated education resulting in the ability to brainwash the idiots who voted for a dictator thinking he was going to lower food and housing prices.

    America has jumped the shark.

Fortran? Though my parent (still alive, not on Lemmy) was a computer programmer in the early 70s and programmed a mainframe with punch-cards, I think it was some kind of assembly.

Fortran, yes. And machine language. In those days, you had to put the boot loader in manually from binary switches on the control panel. Ah, the wonders of non-volatile memory LOL. COBOL and BASIC later and JCL which was job control lang for mainframes.

      My guess is FORTRAN.

Why do coders seem to much more often have the courage of their convictions than those with other occupations?
