I have a while ago…
Who green lit this? I really hope that person gets fired immediately.
The lack of any visual link to ASUS isn’t even the biggest problem for me; it’s that ASUS rolls out a program that (presumably) puts itself in autostart by default and just pops up without prompt at all.
Edit: There’s a fucking setting in the BIOS to auto-install ASUS’ bullshit software? And it’s enabled by default… jesus fucking christ
It’s refreshing to see them not including “Ad-free” as a feature
You’d need a separate apartment just to keep it from sagging…
Oh no, I’m sure no one could’ve guessed the names…
8K ads, nice
But replacing the screen isn’t as trivial as it may be on the Chromatic.
Same… If you know about his “trip” to Japan you know that he’s not exactly passionate about retro gaming either.
I wonder why they chose him, of all people, as their brand ambassador. The rest of their marketing caters heavily towards people who grew up with the original Game Boys, i.e. people who are way to old to even know about this idiot.
I’m sure the GBC would be easier to repair on a component level; less components and overall simpler board design. Only exception could be the screen.
It costs almost the same as an Analogue Pocket and has way fewer features.
The Last Game Boy You’ll Ever Buy
No matter how repairable this thing is, I guarantee you that original Game Boys pretty much offer the same level of repairability. I bought all of my GBs (DMG01, GBC, GBA SP) in broken state and repaired them; it’s not that hard.
For that price you can almost certainly find original hardware and have fun repairing it. That’s what iFixit should advocate for IMO.
Edit: There’s a Logan Paul Edition… What?
I think we already have had enough time to “experience” AI in Edge to never want an AI browser…
They’ve added upgradable RAM with the Gen 5 models. The WIFI card is soldered, though, which isn’t as bad but still meh for longevity IMO
My brand new ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 has HDMI, two USB-A 5Gbps ports, a headset jack, a half-height Ethernet port, as well as two thunderbolt 4 ports and an optional smartcard reader.
I agree that Apple kinda inadvertently ruined the port selection on many laptops for a while but it’s gotten better over the years; even Apple brought back HDMI and SD-Card readers.
Typical CEO ragebaiting to make themselves seem relevant.
I’d much rather have a modern take on a 90s InWin case or something. Rock solid, tons of I/O options and very tall.
Modern cases need to bring back optical drive bays…
Elements were always just so much inferior to the full versions that you’re better off using free alternatives anyway
I’ve only heard good things about Aorus (which is basically Gigabyte), though
