I think he really just had to get his rhythm going. Biden was never really a terrific public speaker even at the best of times (Or Obama was just like, absolutely world-class). He did get his promises out, though.

At the end of the day, Biden could have just twerked on stage for 100 min, and I still would have voted for him, as long as he has a plan for the next four years. He’s actually gotten a shocking amount of good stuff done for the average american, though some of it, like rebuilt bridges, high tech factories and prescription caps, might be years away before we reap the full benefits.

Yeah, FWIW, Biden actually talked about expanding stuff like drug price caps to save the government shitloads of money while also saving Americans money as well. Stuff like taxing people making over 400k a year only, lead pipe abatement, funding the ACA more, giving Ukraine the aid it needs to slap the dogshit out of russia, etc etc.

If I had no idea about either president, at leask I know what Biden’s future promises are and what he told us he got done in the past four years, even if he did have some sections where he kind of mucked up like this kid did.

Trump, while sounding more coherent vocally, was entirely all over the place with Afghanistan and immigrants bad (no plan?), and somehow he’s going to win the war in Ukraine and bring the WSJ reporter home, for free, before he’s even elected in just under five months. Oh, and apparently, he hopes he won’t die before then, though he didn’t sound so sure about that last night.

If I was an uninformed voter, I’d be like “Damn, biden is old, but at least he has a plan and a good team judging off his pretty amazing track record” capping insulin at $35 a mo instead of $400 is fucking awesome, not to mention the other drugs too. The massive investment in the US economy was also nice. Battery plants in Georgia, chip fabs across the country, fixing infrastructure cia the bipartisan infrastructure plan…all great stuff.

The only remakes that I really liked were Black Mesa and the MCC. Black Mesa was such an incredible tribute to Half Life.

Some, like The Witcher (1), could absolutely use an overhaul because of bad gameplay issues, time constraints or budget cuts (Xen- Half Life, etc). Most, like Skyrim…eh. they don’t really need it as long as they sent patches for stuff like 144hz and ultrawide support.

194 nautical miles isn’t terribly far, though. For port to port, sure. For oceanic shipping, I don’t think 194 is going to cut it. I think we will probably have to do SMRs or efuels to really cut cargo ship and cruise ship emissions when crossing the Pacific or Atlantic. Though I don’t know where nuclear powered shipping (in non-military applications) is in terms of progress.

We can’t just kill every animal we don’t like. Elephants, wolves, bears, etc. all play an incredibly important role in the health of our ecosystems and help keep plants and animals healthy. Sometimes, they keep nuisances at bay, too, or keep stuff like prion diseases in check.

I get that elephants can eat crops or wolves can eat cattle, but we’ve managed to build space shuttles and end worldwide diseases through amazing vaccine campaigns. I’m sure we can rewild some major areas and build better, non-lethal deterrants in others.

It’s helped restore Yellowstone’s biodiversity and drive incredible amounts of tourism after the wolves were reintroduced.

I like my Kobo, but wish it had a bit better of a storefront. I want to get my books from more than just the kobo store. Overdrive support is nice. It sometimes loses my page just like a real book, ironically.

Still, I find myself still letting it collect dust due to it’s limited storefront and long book checkout times at the library. Physical books and newspapers are a bit bigger and stable software-wise.

I really wish epaper displays were more common. It’s a really cool technology. I’d love an inexpensive epaper monitor or maybe an alarm clock?

Six modern ships doesn’t seem like enough to counter an aggressive Russian or Chinese navy. If Ukraine falls, Europe is next. I hope Germany is putting R&D into droneships and anti-ship missiles like Ukraine is doing.

Some devices cannot use Bluetooth audio devices, or it’s buggy or laggy af. I don’t mind wireless buds for the gym, but they sound worse and die before a flight across the US is complete. Wired headsets so don’t have to be charged, or if they do have ANC, its usually a replacable battery instead of a rechargeable battery.

I dunno if it’s just my Fold 4, but when I ride the train or visit an apartment, I get bombarded by pairing requests from Bose headphones and other bluetooth devices like home speakers. It’s probably some setting that Samsung quietly flipped on in a recent patch, but it’s really annoying. If we are going to go further into space, we are going to need much larger space stations that can store supplies, materials, and much more research equipment and scientists. The ISS is a fucking broom closet, lol. This is charting a path to get us closer to research stations on other planets too, which are also needed for such ventures. Mining will come eventually, after orbital stations and lunar research facilities :)

Technologies like skyhooks could help us cut costs significantly with spacetravel between planets or for shipping materials around.
